Encapsulated vitamin C: the best option for radiant, protected skin

If there is one active that never goes out of fashion in skincare, it is vitamin C. It brightens, helps improve uneven tone, and has antioxidant and well-aging action. But there is something you might not know: not all vitamin C works the same way. And it is not about looking for the highest percentage, but about whether it is encapsulated and about the formula as a whole.

What is encapsulated vitamin C?

Imagine vitamin C travelling inside a tiny invisible capsule. That is, put simply, the idea behind cosmetic encapsulation.

"In the case of our Morning Glow Sorbet Cream we use NIO-VCS, a vitamin C with niosomal encapsulation. That is, we place the vitamin C inside a small plant-based capsule that protects the active until it reaches the skin," explains Anna Fuster, our CEO and an expert in dermopharmacy and cosmetic formulation.

This technology works as a shield against external factors that can compromise the stability of the active and allows a more controlled release. The result? The ingredient stays more stable, lasts longer on the skin and can reach its target cells more effectively.

Why is encapsulated vitamin C better?

Vitamin C is one of the most interesting antioxidants in skincare, but also one of the actives most sensitive to factors such as oxygen, light or heat.

In fact, you have probably opened a vitamin C serum at some point and, after a few weeks or months, seen how it changed colour. And when vitamin C oxidises, it loses antioxidant capacity.

As Anna explains, "when a pure vitamin C serum starts to turn darker, it is a sign that it is oxidising and therefore losing effectiveness. By encapsulating it we keep it stable for much longer".

But stability is not the only advantage. Encapsulated vitamin C allows a progressive release of the active and supports a more targeted action, which improves both its efficacy and its tolerance on the skin.

And this is no small thing: in the case of the encapsulation we use in our new cream, studies have shown up to 10 times more potency compared with a conventional vitamin C, thanks to this encapsulation technology.
