How long does it take for a skin stain to disappear?
Skin spots are one of the reasons you ask us the most, especially after summer - when new spots often appear. As we saw in previous blogs, they can appear due to different causes: sun damage, hormonal changes, aging, after inflammation (like a pimple), or genetics.
However, there's always one question that comes up when we suggest your perfect anti-spot routine: how long will it take for them to disappear?
Well... keep reading and find out how long it takes for a spot to disappear from your skin. Because, friend, there isn't just one answer: not all spots are the same, nor do they respond to treatment in the same way.
What influences how long it takes for a spot to disappear?
Since not all spots are the same, the time it takes to eliminate a spot from your face will depend on different factors:
- Type of spot: a solar lentigo (small brown spot from the sun) is not the same as melasma (diffuse and recurrent pigmentation on the cheeks or forehead).
- Depth: superficial or recently appeared spots usually improve faster with cosmetics, while deep ones - present for years - may need help from procedures performed by your dermatologist in consultation, such as chemical peels, laser, or intense pulsed light (IPL).
- Consistency in your routine: the key is to be consistent with the treatment and have a specific routine for spots, with depigmenting products.
- Sun protection: without daily SPF50, even the best anti-spot routine loses effectiveness; as we will not be preventing the appearance of new spots.
We know, this is all very well, but you want a number to get an idea. Well, although all this influences, generally speaking, with a well-chosen cosmetic routine, results can be seen in 8 to 12 weeks, although the first improvements in terms of a more uniform and luminous tone are usually noticed from the first applications.
How to treat spots at home
We currently have very effective solutions to treat spots at home. Ingredients such as tranexamic acid, arbutin, azelaic acid, or licorice extract have shown great ability to stop melanin production (the pigment that causes spots) and improve skin luminosity.
Of course, you have to be consistent! Applying a depigmenting product daily can make the difference between a spot that improves in weeks or one that remains for months.
Do you want to speed up the disappearance of your spots? Brightening Serum is an excellent option thanks to its powerful formula, which combines the best depigmenting active ingredients on the market:
- Azelaic acid: regulates 'color' production and calms inflammation.
-
Tranexamic acid: is a star ingredient for melasma, as it acts on the inflammatory cascade that generates pigmentation.
-
Arbutin: inhibits tyrosinase, a key enzyme in the formation of spot color.
- Licorice extract: powerful antioxidant and soothing, ideal for sensitive skin.
Of course, remember that skin spots do not disappear overnight. It is true that some can improve in a matter of weeks with a good depigmenting agent like Brightening Serum (many of you even write to us after 3-4 weeks, surprised by the change in your skin), but other spots require months of constant treatment or a little help with medical-aesthetic procedures.
Ready to say goodbye to your spots? With patience, consistency, and the right choice of treatments, achieving more uniform and luminous skin is totally possible.
If you have any questions or need help with your spots, remember that you can write to us. We will be happy to help you!
