Pimples and Acne Marks: How to Prevent and Improve Them

Who hasn’t had a pimple pop up at least once in their life? It’s something we all go through at some point, and, funny enough, they usually show up at the most inconvenient time… The truth is pimples can appear for many reasons, so there’s no 100% magic formula to avoid them, but there are definitely things that help—a lot!

First of all, remember that what we can treat at home are pimples. If you have a more severe breakout, it’s always best to see a dermatologist who can recommend a treatment tailored to your case.

Why Do Pimples Appear on the Face?

Pimples can come from different causes, but the most common are:

  • Excess sebum production, which clogs pores

  • Bacterial infections

  • Hormonal reasons or genetics

  • Stress or diet (high sugar, fat, or dairy intake)

With a good skincare routine, we can prevent the first two causes and help treat and avoid post-acne marks if pimples were caused by other reasons.

How to Prevent Pimples

The key to preventing pimples is keeping pores as clean as possible and helping regulate the skin’s oil production. Also, bacteria that cause pimples find it harder to survive on clean, well-cared-for skin.

First, make sure you have a solid daily cleansing routine, especially double cleansing every night. Oil penetrates pores better and removes excess oil more effectively, so, contrary to what you might think, an oil-based cleanser or makeup remover will be your best friend.

Also, it’s recommended to include a gentle exfoliant with salicylic acid in your morning routine since this ingredient deeply cleans pores and helps regulate sebum, making it perfect for preventing pimples and blackheads—like our Porefect Exfoliant.

And finally, if your skin tends to acne, you have to include succinic acid in your routine! This acid is perfect for treating and preventing pimples because it directly kills the bacteria that cause them—plus, it regulates sebum and keeps pores clean. It’s a super innovative ingredient that works wonders for pimples, which is why we include it in our specific Blemish Control Treatment.

What to Do So Pimples Don’t Leave Marks

If, despite following these tips, you still get a pimple due to hormones or other reasons, it’s crucial to treat it properly to avoid scarring or post-acne marks.

Two things are important here: first, protect yourself well from the sun with daily sunscreen; second, use brightening and anti-inflammatory ingredients that help heal the pimple quickly without leaving marks.

For this, Brightening Serum is definitely the ideal product. With azelaic acid, tranexamic acid, and arbutin (the strongest brightening agents on the market), it helps pimples heal without leaving any spots or scars. Plus, azelaic acid is anti-inflammatory and antibacterial, so it speeds up healing by reducing inflammation.

Oh! And it’s also very important to keep your skin barrier strong and well hydrated while promoting cell regeneration so fresh, healthy skin replaces the old. So focus on hydrating and repairing in the rest of your routine, and avoid astringent or “drying” products.

You got this, friend! Keep these tips in mind, and you’ll probably forget what it was like to have pimples—or at least they’ll disappear much faster and without leaving marks ;)
