Ingredients That Shouldn’t Be Missing in Your Routine
We’re getting closer and closer to your ideal skincare routine! Now that you know how to identify your skin type (and if not, check out this blog), it’s time to find out which ingredients you should look for in your cosmetics to give your skin exactly what it needs.
This doesn’t mean you can’t use ingredients outside of your “list,” but keep in mind that if you want to see results, these are the preferred ingredients for each skin type:
DRY SKIN
If you have dry skin, your routine should include richer, more emollient textures with ingredients like:
- Ceramides
- Hyaluronic acid
- Glycerin
- AHA and PHA (gluconolactone)
- Retinoids Antioxidants – Vitamin C (pure for resistant skin, derivatives for others)
-
Centella asiatica
Omegas 3, 6, and 9 (like argan oil)
COMBINATION/OILY SKIN
For combination or oily skin, look for lighter textures formulated with:
- Niacinamide
- Salicylic acid (also AHA and PHA)
- Antioxidants (the Vitamin C derivative Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate is antimicrobial and perfect if you also have acne-prone skin)
- Azelaic acid
- Prebiotics
- Hyaluronic acid
Now, regardless of your skin type, your skin may have specific concerns that require a more targeted routine. Depending on your skin’s condition, these are the ingredients that will help the most:
SKIN WITH DARK SPOTS/PIGMENTATION
Definitely go for brightening ingredients that promote skin renewal, like arbutin, tranexamic acid, azelaic acid, exfoliating acids (AHA and PHA), retinoids, and Vitamin C.
If you want a complete and effective routine for dark spots but with few steps, Brightening Serum is perfect because it contains three of the most powerful brightening ingredients on the market: 5% azelaic acid, 3% tranexamic acid, and 2% arbutin.
PIMPLES/UNEVENT TEXTURE
If pimples and uneven skin texture concern you, don’t miss ingredients like salicylic acid (also AHA and PHA), azelaic acid, niacinamide, benzoyl peroxide, retinoids, or prebiotics.
The Porefect Exfoliant is perfect in these cases, as it deeply cleans pores preventing pimples and blackheads, plus exfoliates to even out and improve skin texture. It combines exfoliating acids (AHA and PHA) with salicylic acid and leaves a beautiful glow!
WRINKLES/LOSS OF FIRMNESS
For fine lines or sagging, the best approach is prevention and treatment with ingredients that stimulate collagen and elastin production, great allies for improvement.
Which ingredients help boost collagen and elastin synthesis? The top ones are retinoids. Others to consider are antioxidants (like Vitamin C), bakuchiol, ceramides, peptides, exfoliating acids (AHA and PHA), and growth factors (also known as EGF).
With 0.3% encapsulated pure retinol and 1% bakuchiol, Night Serum will help improve wrinkles, firmness, pore appearance, and dark spots. Remember to introduce it gradually if you haven’t used retinol before—and enjoy your new well-aging routine!
SENSITIVE SKIN
If your skin easily gets irritated or red, don’t risk it with your routine. Always choose products tested on sensitive skin (all our line is!), preferably with calming or regenerating ingredients like centella asiatica, prebiotics, ceramides, PHA, low-concentration niacinamide, and growth factors.
Sensitive skin always benefits from a good hydrating mask that soothes and repairs skin at the end of the week. Our Midnight Mask, with centella asiatica and ceramides, is an ideal choice that will leave your skin plump and rested, like you’ve slept 10 hours straight!
